Last night I made an effort to go to sleep earlier, which definitely paid off this morning since I had to wake up earlier to shower and eat before making to class at nine. This morning's lecture was kind of like a mirror of Friday's lecture. Friday we covered the buyer's problem/optimization (see Friday's blog for my attempted explanation.) The difference is that while the buyer is looking for combinations of goods to buy to maximize utility, sellers are looking for combinations of capital and labor to produce goods in a way to maximize profits.

After lunch, we did an experiment led by Ted which simulated trade between two firms, a large producer, and a small producer. The goal was to show that by trading instead of working separately both firms could increase their profits.

Later in the afternoon, the whole Chicago cohort met up with John to check in, buy our souvenir hoodies and take a nice picture. John gave us some blogging tips and checked in to make sure we were doing ok. I'm having an awesome time, so no problems, but I really appreciate John coming down from downtown to make sure.
Like I said yesterday, today's blog is a bit shorter so I'll take advantage of it to talk about some friends from my house.
Again, I'll be describing people from left to right on the above picture. Leftmost is Rylee, she's from Dallas, Texas, and is taking Psychology. Behind her is Henry, who lives in China. Henry is taking a collegiate writing class. Next is Jasper. She is from Georgia and is taking a Philosophy class. The guy with the sunglasses is Jonathan, who coincidentally speaks French and is Dutch, like me. Unlike me, he actually has relatives in France and lives in D.C. Jonathan takes the same collegiate writing class as Henry. Last, but not least, is Hanna. Hanna lived in Pasadena, California for a while but is now living in Dubai. She is taking the same psych course as Rylee.
I'll talk about more people tomorrow, hopefully, some basic info and a picture to put to a face make the blog more interesting.
