Although I speak French, I am not French. Jonathan, my friend who actually is French, was extremely happy this morning as we watched France beat Croatia in the World Cup final. France won for the second time in its history, and Jonathan was overjoyed. I'm not a huge sports fan, but I do enjoy watching the Olympics, the Superbowl, and the World Cup, so watching the final live was a nice way to start the day.

The rest of the day was less nice as I still had a lot of work to do with my group for Econ tomorrow. I alternated doing some work and then taking a nap because I'm starting to feel all the excitement wearing down on me. I took a walk around campus in the mid-afternoon to clear my head, then jumped back into work. In the evening I joined a group soccer game led by the RAs at a nearby field. It was quite fun even though I'm not very good at soccer, and some of the people there were amazing players. I walked back from the game with Josef, a member of my Econ group. While the work I did in the afternoon was alone, we had agreed to work together as a group this evening.
During our working time Kate and I went back up to our house to check in for curfew, and while we were there we picked up some cake and celebrated Hanna's birthday a little late. We then came back down to do more work (seeing a pattern here?)

Since today's activities are much less interesting to the average blog reader, I guess I'll take advantage of a shorter blog to talk a bit about the friends I've made while here. This will probably just be a brief list of a few people, but I'll talk about them in future posts and hopefully, this will add some background.
My Econ group consists of me and four other people. I'll list people from left to right in the above photograph. Leftmost is Gigi, she is from Houston Texas, and is in Thangaraj house (the same one as Isaac). Next is Josef, who is from New York City, and is in Trott house. After Josef in the picture is Jamal, who is not in our Econ class but was hanging out with us while we were working. Jamal is Nigerian and is in the Model UN class, where he is representing the Russian Federation. Adam is second from the right and is from Pheonix Arizona. Adam is also in Thangaraj with Gigi. Finally, all the way on the left is Kate, who is from Southern California and is in the same house as me, Rogers House.
I'll probably talk more about my friends in other classes tomorrow since I'm guessing that my free time will be spent studying for Tuesday's test.
