Lack of sleep can cause issues throughout the day but not for me! I slept for 4 hours last night but, even so, I never yawned a single time as every material the teacher was covering was very interesting.
Our Teacher's Assistant, Ivan, started a seminar on the topic of gender discrimination. As I promised in yesterdays blog, I measured and compared the data on the number of men who participate as compared to women. Males participate significantly higher than compared to females. Limiting ourselves only to Ivan's seminar, men raised their hands over 13 times whereas women raised their hands only 5 times. The numbers are simply not proportional.

People in my class are all very competitive - especially the men. While looking over my homework I asked one of the students to help me in the course assignment. His answer was an arrogant "No." Though I found it very rude, one of the RA's, Brandon, helped me out with the assignment and I was back on track. Though I have barely started on my homework, which is to read over 60 pages, I am still optimistic that the teacher will continue to cover more compulsive material, building onto my critical thinking skills.
Then, we were subjects in a lab experiment related to supply and demand. I really wanted to watch the World Cup Semi-Final between England vs Croatia but the optimal choice was to go to class. I am actually glad I went to class because England lost and the experiment was very fun.
The best part about the day was hitting the gym and playing volleyball. Jaemin's ball pump arrived at the door today and we pumped it with air to play volleyball. It was 4 vs 4. Though my team lost really bad, it was the best part of the day.
From then on, I have been typing to finish assignments from my school and Econ course. Opposed to other high school students, I like being busy because time passes by faster and moreover it makes me smarter. I feel my brain expanding with knowledge and wisdom. I thought the past two days have been tough but the teacher stated the coursework is going to be heavier, starting tomorrow. I, surely, am looking forward to that!
Majority of the students in my class have had prior Economics experience through high school courses, unlike me. I am starting fresh off the boat and picking up new knowledge simultaneously. This knowledge is not limited to only Economics but practical experience - learning how to adjust and adapt to a rigorous environment, connect with peers, and further understand my learning process.
I have never seen so many intellectually-driven students in my high school. Everyone is hungry for success. But I am hungrier and I shall conquer to come out on TOP!
