The Dorm Life!

These past two days of dorm life have been one of my best days ever. Meeting new people, eating at diverse restaurants, and having more freedom - it feels as if I am an undergraduate student. My parents restrict me somewhat when it comes to activities outside of academics. However, at the UChicago Immersion Program it is completely the opposite. I have completely been on a run with my new friends since the beginning of the day.

Unlike yesterday, I woke up on time, promptly at 9. I dislike the idea of waking up early to eat breakfast so I just go for the lunch. The group activities started at 10, where we played Rock-Paper-Scissors championship, and Never Have I Ever. In the Rock-Paper-Scissors championship, students competed against each other, individually. The winner of a game proceeds to compete a different winner until we get the ultimate one who beat them all! Furthermore, in Never Have I Ever, students admit to what they have done, mostly something bad.

As soon as the group activities wrapped up, I hung out with Jonathan, and some of his friends. Max sent me a text, asking me if I wanted to go to Target with Jeff and Ethan, our dorm neighbors. I decided to go to Target because I needed to buy some essentials.

While we were at it, we chose to eat at the Noodle House, right next to Medici (we ate there on Friday).

I grabbed a Tofu Chowmein - crazily delicious. As I did not have a camera and my phone died, I could not take a picture. The chowmein was steamed and contained a lot of onions, cabbages, and tofus.

As soon as we finished the Tofu, we ran over to Target to grab some snacks, and Max's mirror. Target is about 9 minutes away from our residential building but 18 minutes from our location. Throughout the way, I talked with Ethan about Physics, and Math. This guy was very intellectually-driven and surrounding myself with successful people is the best thing I can do! At least, he told me that he won't forget me after he is rich and successful.

We passed by a small fountain of water, which brought back memories of the Buckingham Fountain, and The Rock. When visiting The Rock on Friday, I learned that after the fountain stopped working, students started painting it, and it remained a tradition. As for the Buckingham fountain, I don't think it is necessary to describe how gorgeous of a fountain it is. Now, I want to now go to the Buckingham Palace one again.

While returning from Target, I spent some time reading my Economics book and taking notes. The chapter was about how empiricism creates an economic model. I found it really interesting.

Afterwards, I formally introduced Max to my roommate, Jonathan.

I grabbed some dinner and ironically enough Jonathan invited me to go to the Poke with some of our dorm members around 7. I felt full so instead I went running 2.3 miles all through UChicago. Moreover, I went to play Basketball with Jae at the gym, right after the run. He is ordering a Volleyball, right now, through Amazon Prime and it is expected to arrive tomorrow.

I spent the rest of the night hanging out with Jonathan, Emma, Nil, Kate, Alex, and Max. We don't have a squad picture but we have already established a friendship bond with each other.

Tomorrow is the first day of my Economics course, which will take place at the Sahie Hall for Economics at room 146. I made sure to take a picture of it, after running, with the building.

Though it was not a day full of rush, I am sure tomorrow will be. I am as excited as ever to go out there to my classroom and CONQUER!
