Finally, it's the Weekend!

My friends and I decided earlier on in the week that we really wanted to make it off campus on the weekend as we had not had the opportunity to do so throughout the week.  The plan for today was the Museum of Science and Industry.

Although not far from campus, the museums and its exhibits had interested all of us.  The museum trip was an RA event that began at 9:45 AM in the lobby of our dorm building.  Sadly, the meet-up time meant I would not be able to sleep in as much as I would have wanted to.

Around 9:40, I made my way downstairs towards the lobby, our trip meet-up spot, and saw no one but the RAs there. I assumed they were still waiting for people to arrive since most of the RA trips have left at least 30 minutes late. So, I went to try to get myself a coffee and something to eat since I had not yet eaten breakfast.

The line at the coffee shop was pretty long as I should have guessed since not that long ago Liam, our UChicago tour guide, had stressed the strong coffee culture at UChicago. I knew I was running low on time, so I decided to just go back to the lobby.

When I returned I saw Cecilia, Adela, Maria and a group of girls from my house who were also waiting to go on the trip, but the RAs were now gone. I had returned not even five minutes after I passed through the lobby and they had already left.

The original plan was to go to the museum with the RAs, plan B was to take the bus but we did not all have cash. So we went with plan C, Uber. I ordered an Uber for the four of us but Adela’s friend Judy joined us so we could not fit in one Uber. This lead to Cecilia, Adela, and Judy staying behind and ordering another Uber.

Despite the hiccup in transportation, we actually had a really fun time at the museum. There were a lot of interesting interactive exhibits. Among those exhibits we visited, were the U-505 Submarine, Extreme Ice, and Science Storms.

exhibit where we caught sand with our shadows.
After spending a couple hours at the museum, we had to go back to campus to make it to lunch in the dining hall before it closed. We had a quick lunch together and we all headed back to our dorm rooms, with the exception of Cecilia who had to go to a review session for her class.

The rest of my afternoon went by pretty fast. I was really tired so I rested in my dorm room before doing laundry and cleaning up my room.

Once the evening rolled around, I went to dinner with Maria and Adela and then we went to study and get some work done in the study rooms on the second floor. There, I also met up with my lab partner, Crystal, to plan out how we would divide the work up for our scientific paper that will be due Wednesday night.

Today was a long day but it was pretty relaxing compared to this last week. It has been hard trying to adjust to the rigorous coursework but I already have learned so much and am really enjoying it. There is a lot to be done and I was able to start on some today but there is still a lot I have to do tomorrow both for classwork and our scientific research paper. Before that, though, I am off to get some sleep. I will write more tomorrow. Goodnight!
