Two hours of sleep and still running! The adrenaline has kept my body moving, throughout the day! Frankly speaking, Chicago is one of the best places I have ever been - tall skyscrapers everywhere, guys walking in suits, deep dish pizzas are even better, and the list goes on.
Every time I see a guy with a suit, walking into some of these gigantic skyscrapers, I envision myself in the same position in the years to come. I love the fact that everybody, here, is in a rush and during the day half of the guys are wearing suits. While an art major after looking at some of these buildings might think about the history, structure, and designer of the building, as a business major it is completely the opposite. When I see a Hyatt building, different questions pick my brain - "Who runs this company?", "What makes this company successful as compared to other large corporations?", and "What is its long-term value?".
I, also, tried out the Tilt in the 360 Observation Deck but I found it not scary at all. Even so, the rest of the cohort was frightened by this "thrilling" experience.
After viewing Chicago from the 360 Deck, we marched to the Navy Pier. Even with the unusually humid weather pattern in Chicago, there was a breeze as we walked to the Navy Pier, which made it somewhat cooler and refreshed all of us. Moreover, as we walked the Navy Pier, we looked at the vibrant sunset and reflected on the plane trip.
I was very tired after walking 8.5 miles and surviving off 2 hours of sleep. Even though I attempted to sleep several times last night, both at home and on the plane, the adrenaline in the system would not let me.
However, I got an opportunity to make a new friend, Marcus, a flight attendant for the Southwest Airlines. Though the ride was tedious, the conversation we had about my academic journey through high school, made the plane trip way better! He, also, gave me extra peanuts, and food as I got off of the plane.
Day 1 was as what John Hillyer would call, "simply amazing"!
Though I probably won't be able to watch the Uruguay vs France game tomorrow, as we will take off for Northwestern University early in the morning, I am, still, certain that Day 2 will be as exciting as Day 1 was.
